Gold Standard partnered with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) and East African Alliance for Carbon Markets and Climate Finance, in 2022, to support the Government of Uganda to build local capacity to use Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
A blueprint for engaging in cooperative approaches under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, As part of this, Gold Standard developed a practical three-step Blueprint for Article 6 implementation intended for the use of governments, outlining the roles and responsibilities of the UNFCCC, project developers and crediting programmes. This work was supported by a series of workshops – co-organised by Gold Standard, GIZ, the East African Alliance and the Ugandan Climate Change Department – for government officials and private stakeholders in Uganda.
Gold Standard is building on this work through its support for other governments to develop capacity and prepare for Article 6 implementation.
