Sustainable Development Initiative

Until 2022, Gold Standard was a co-founding partner in the Sustainable Development Initiative (SDI), advocating for strong sustainable development provisions in Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.

The SDI worked with Parties and other stakeholders to advocate for and raise awareness on the opportunities associated with strong sustainable development provisions in Article 6. It did this through a combination of Party driven policy dialogue, piloting of approaches, and outreach activities to relevant carbon market players, resulting in the adoption of stronger provisions for sustainable development in the Article 6 rulebook adopted at COP26.
