This document provides requirements for methodology development and for projects under GS4GG regarding identification, reduction, determination and mitigation of uncertainties.
Recognising the importance of addressing uncertainties in GS4GG methodologies and the calculation of the amount of emission reductions certified, these new requirements are introduced to ensure uncertainties are avoided as much as possible and feasible and the remaining uncertainties are quantified and addressed. The requirements apply for methodology development, with the aim of minimizing the effort to be undertaken by project developers during validation and verification.
Gold Standard will be developing an additional guidance document to complement the proposed requirements, in which suggestions would be provided how the the high-level requirements would be applied to specific methodologies, sectors and technologies.
The requirements outlined in this document apply to methodologies for eligible activities under GS4GG, excluding those covered under Land Use and Forests (LUF) Activity Requirements.
